Making This World a Better Place to Park. One Moron at a Time.tm

Curb Hog

A Curb Hog is that one car that takes up the space where two cars can easily fit on the curb. In the above photo, if Curb Hog would have had enough consideration to pull forward (or reverse) all the way to the end of the curb, there would be room for at least one other car to park along that curb. How nice would that be of him?

Two-Wheeler Space Stealer

Obviously, if the angle of your car is skewed compared to the angle or straightness of the lines you are parking in between, this will make it more difficult for any cars that may be forced to park on either side of you. This can make it more difficult for the driver to the right side of your car to get in or out of their vehicle. Likewise, if a car parks on the driver's side of your car while you are away, this could actually make it difficult for YOU to get back into your own car! STUPID!

The white car in the above photo has about 4 feet of space between the passenger side of his car and a curb but is parked over the line on the driver side making it difficult for the black car to pull into the adjacent space, not to mention, making it difficult to get in or out of his own vehicle! Can you say "MORON"?

Come on. It's a motorcycle or scooter. You can park it almost anywhere. Do you really need to take up a whole entire car space? The possibility that some careless driver might accidentally knock your bike over is far less likely than some angry driver who's been driving around for 20 minutes looking for a parking spot, getting out of their car and pushing your bike over.

Anyway, the legal way to park a motorcycle is perpendicular to the curb with the rear tire touching the curb. This motorcycle should have a ticket for this type of parallel parking.

California Vehicle Code Section 22502 governs parking for cars and motorcycles:

(a) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, [ . . . ] a motorcycle shall be parked with at least one wheel or fender touching the right-hand curb . . .
